Resource Assistance for Youth, Inc.

 

The Health and Wellness Department offers services related to youth’s mental, emotional, and physical health by providing low-barrier access to a Community Mental Health Worker, an Addictions Support Worker and a Nurse Practitioner. We offer a holistic and harm-reduction approach to all aspects of physical and mental health.

Health Clinic

Drop-In Health Clinic

RaY has a health clinic facilitated through a secondment of a Registered Nurse Practitioner who provides primary health care to youth on site. No health card? No problem.

When:

Tuesday and Wednesday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Access through Drop-In

Services:

  • Sexual health
  • First aid
  • Psychiatric referrals
  • Diagnoses
  • Prescriptions

Who:

Any youth up to the age of 29 who requires primary medical attention.

Addiction Supports

Addiction Supports

RaY uses a harm reduction philosophy with all youth interactions. RaY is able to fast-track youth into the appropriate treatment facility best suited for each distinct individual while providing advocacy and support. The Addictions Support Worker advocates and supports youth wherever they are at in their recovery process. Low-barrier access ensures youth receive the support when and how they require it and without judgement.

Mental Health Supports

Mental Health Supports

The mental health department fills the gaps of traditional mental health services by using a harm reduction approach with all youth interactions. The Community Mental Health Worker advocates on behalf of youth to reduce the impact of untreated/under treated mental health issues. RaY supports youth prior to, during and after treatment at the discretion of the youth participant.
